The Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ) is inviting you to an Intellectual Property Awareness Seminar at Harare Polytechnic on 23 March 2018 within the context of a Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) on functionality of the National Science Technology and Innovation System (NSTIS). The 2nd RRI on functionality of the NTSIS began on 29 January 2018 and is expected to end on 08 May 2018. This RRI is being implemented as a follow up to the one that ran from 11 October 2017 to 18 January 2018.
The RRI on the NTSIS aims to foster smart partnerships, break silos and promote synergies among players in the NSTIS. Three Technical Working Groups (TWGs) were formed to implement the RRI. The TWGs are Research and Development (R&D) Funding, Research Commercialisation and IP, all working towards improving functionality of the NSTIS.One of the key issues that emerged during the 1st RRI was the limited understanding and/or use of IP by researchers and institutions in the country. As a result, difficulties were faced in creating collaborative partnerships and commercialisation of projects. Stakeholders raised concern over the high costs of protecting intellectual property and lack of clearly stipulated supporting structures to facilitate the process. As part of the work being done to improve understanding of IP, the RCZ is through the IP TWG conducting awareness seminars in collaboration with some institutions across the country hence your invitation to this event.Three people from your organisation can attend the Seminar. It is anticipated these three will spearhead IP awareness activities within your institution/ministry/
Please confirm your attendance on email email@example.com or phone 04 3047733 by 22 March 2018.
